Kinshasa Symphony - Classical Music in the Congo a film by Claus Wischmann and Martin Baer Berlin, January 18th 2010 – The decision has been taken. The film “Kinshasa Symphony” has convinced the jury of the 60th Berlin International Film Festival “Berlinale”. Festival director Dieter Kosslick congratulates the directors on this “great documentary film about this very special way towards Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. The film and its story have touched our hearts…” The premiere will take place at Cinema Paris. The directors Claus Wischmann and Martin Baer are enthusiastic that their film about the only symphony orchestra in central Africa - the “Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste” – has its world premiere at such a famous international festival as the “Berlinale”. “We couldn’t have dreamed of a better starting point”, states Claus Wischmann. He is convinced that later on the film will also have a broad audience in the cinemas and eventually on television (coproduction with WDR and RBB). The film has been produced under the patronage of the German Commission for UNESCO. From May/June 2010 onwards it will be shown in cinemas all over Germany. |

Kinshasa Symphony - Ein klassisches Orchester im Kongo Ein Film von Claus Wischmann und Martin Baer Berlin, 18. Januar 2010 – Die Entscheidung ist gefallen: Der Film „Kinshasa Symphony“ hat die Auswahlkommission der Internationalen Filmfestspiele „Berlinale“ überzeugt. Festivaldirektor Dieter Kosslick gratuliert zu diesem „tollen Dokumentarfilm über diesen ganz besonderen Weg hin zu Beethovens Neunter. Der Film und seine Geschichte hat uns sehr berührt...“ Premierenkino ist das Cinema Paris. Die Regisseure Claus Wischmann und Martin Baer sind begeistert, dass ihr Film über das einzige Symphonieorchester Zentralafrikas – das Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste – seinen Kinostart bei einem so renommierten internationalen Festival wie der „Berlinale“ hat. „Einen besseren Startplatz kann man sich nicht wünschen“, sagte Claus Wischmann und ist überzeugt, dass der Film auch später im Kino und Fernsehen (Koproduktion mit dem WDR und RBB) viele Zuschauer haben wird. Der Film, der unter der Schirmherrschaft der Deutschen UNESCO-Kommission steht, wird vorausichtlich im Mai/Juni 2010 bundesweit in die Kinos kommen. |
